JENsations Swatches!

My mom placed a JENsations order from her Black Friday sale, and the package came in today! Click to enlarge any photos.

2 coats

First, we have Christmas Cookie. It is a white jelly base with red and green hexes. It looks just like frosting with sprinkles! It is my favorite of the order.

Mistletoe is a mix of gold bar glitter, red squares, and small green hexes. This polish is VERY glitter dense. It is opaque in two medium coats!

Next, is Spirit of Christmas. From looking a the bottle I just thought it was green and red mini hexes. But when applying, I found red hearts and stars as well! It is too cute. Great glitter topper!

Holo Daze is a glitter lovers dream. It includes hearts, moons, squares, bars, hexes, and butterflies. All holo, of course! Application was a breeze and the shapes make it onto the brush really well!

Crossword Puzzle looks exactly like it sounds. Multi-size black and white squares, perfect to add to your indie black and white polishes! Shapes also picked up well on the brush.

Santa, I've Been Naughty was disappointing. The bottle wouldn't photograph well, it just look solid black. This polish is supposed to have round black glitter, and unfortunately, all of the circles were stuck to the sides of the bottle and despite all of my digging for them, I couldn't even get one out. One upside to the circles being stubborn is that now I have a dupe for Wet 'N Wild Tangled In My Web!

(Edit from Melanie: I let the bottle of Santa I've Been Naughty sit upside-down for an hour or so before applying it and was able to get circles out of it. I did a mani with it today over silver & topped with an iridescent glitter topper and it's gorgeous! After reading Emma's review, the lovely Jen of JENsations surprised us with a baggie of "coals" to place as we wished. She's amazing!)

F4 Mint Chocolate Chip

I absolutely love this polish, along with every other F4 we own. I prefer to do a coat over Orly Gumdrop because it takes several coats of MCC to get to full opacity and it get gloopy after the second coat. This is one coat each of Gumdrop and MCC. I love this polish mattified, so have topped it with Hard Candy Mattely in Love.

This color works well for almost every season! Pastel for Spring, ice creamy for Summer and cool & icy for Winter. :)

I'm slowly getting my hands back in shape. Between moving and being a nervous Nelly, my hands took a self-inflicted beating!

Halloween Challenge Day 2: Water Marble

Yayyy! I LOVE water marbling.

I've always had a knack for it, and I absolutely love the way it looks. The marble day for the 31DC2012 isn't for a while, so I'm glad the Halloween one had it sooner!

I tried to make the designs look a little less than perfect to try and portray a spooky factor, but I don't think that was a success.

China Glaze: Gaga for Green
China Glaze: Ghoulish Glow

I could not get a picture of the glowing ring in the marble to save my life. I'm pretty new at learning photography, so I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually!

O.P.I- Alpine Snow
Essie- Good To Go
Essie: Orange, It's Obvious
China Glaze: Urban Night

31DC2012 Day 4: Green Nails

Today we are featuring China Glaze: Gaga for Green for, well.. Green day!

Gaga for Green is my mom's Lemon Fizz to her (which is my favorite polish), she loves it! I think it's pretty, but there are more that I like better! Gaga for Green is a part of their Electropop collection, so it was limited edition. It's a not quite lime green cream. It leans more yellow to me.

I topped it off with JENsations Melon-coly, which is the cutest summery polish! Event though summer is over, I hadn't used it yet, and I thought it would pair greatly with this color!

The application of Melon-coly was pretty good overall. But the white bar glitter was either dominant, or non-existent. It may have just been the way I was applying, but it was a little tricky for me. I was pleasantly surprised that the black hexes applied as well as they did. I didn't have to dig for them at all!

Jensations is one of our favorite indie polish makers and we LOVE her star bottles, check her out here!

31DC2012 Day 3: Yellow Nails

Today, I got to use my favorite polish. China Glaze Lemon Fizz is hands down the best polish we own. Today I used it to create Pikachu nails!

Not only did I get to use my favorite, but these nails have a bit of nostalgia for me. I first tried these nails two years ago as my first ever try at nail art. Thanks, Cute Polish! This time around, I knew a lot more about what I was doing. :) I'll attach a picture of my first attempt at the end of the post. I don't think it was awful for being my first attempt!

Anyway, back to yellow. Lemon Fizz is a light yellow cream, and there isn't another like it in my opinion. Sure, there are polishes that look similar in the bottle, but none of them apply the same or have the same finish as this one. Trust me, I've scoped out any dupes trying to find one when I realized Lemon Fizz was limited edition. But I stopped scouring when I discovered Head2Toe Beauty. Since then, I've bought three bottles!

Here's my first attempt at the design, not too shabby, right?

Green nails tomorrow!

31DC2012 Day 1: Red Nails

I hate red polish.

31DC2012 Day Two: Orange Nails

Day 2 of the 31DC2012 is orange nails. With it being right around Halloween, this was a no brainer.

Here we have Essie's Orange, It's Obvious! topped with Hit Polish's Halloween. I also have two coats of China Glaze's Ghoulish Glow!

KB Shimmer: Oh Splat!

I am loving this polish way more than I thought I would! It's gorgeous. <3
This was three coats: 1st thin, 2nd and 3rd thick. I usually wait 5 minutes between each coat to prevent it from getting too thick and never drying.
Topped with a coat of Seche Vite!

KB Shimmer: Swatch & Bottle Previews

Here we have Toucan Touch This. It is a lime green jelly base with multicolor hex glitter and mini bar glitters. So fun! This is the only one I've swatched, since I only got them an hour ago. :) I'll post pics of that at the end of this post.

Elle: A grey jelly base with pink hex glitters. Accompanied with small white square glitter, and a combo if different sizes of pink, silver, & holo glitter.
Oh Splat! :
A white jelly base with green, blue, purple, yellow, and orange medium hex glitter. Along with micro multicolor holo pieces. It reminds me of Lippman's Birthday Party, just in a milky base!

Newsprint:

Another grey based jelly that is about one shade darker than Elle's base. This polish is equipped with small red squares, small red rounded glitter, white bars, black bars, white hex, small grey squares, and teeny tiny red glitter! There's a lot going on in this polish. And to top it off, they're all holo!

glitter + glitter = GLITTERRRRRR!

Just a quick post to share today's look! This is OPI Metallic 4 Life from the Nicki Minaj collection with China Glaze Fairy dust on top for good measure.

Here it is with intentional blur to show off the holo in Fairy Dust
